Asbestos Disposal

Brisbane Asbestos Disposal by the Professionals

Asbestos was once lauded as a remarkable material because of its resistance to heat, chemicals, fire and weather. However, it was soon found to be highly dangerous. At NO1 Asbestos Removals Brisbane, we offer a safe and affordable solution to prevent anyone from being exposed to harmful substances.

Our team of reliable and friendly asbestos experts will dispose of all asbestos materials correctly at licenced disposal facilities. We have the expertise to work in multiple environments and can remove asbestos from both residential and commercial properties. We know the safest ways to handle asbestos products, causing no harm to you or the environment.

Asbestos Disposal Regulations

There are several legal requirements for the safe disposal of asbestos. According to the Queensland Government:

  • It is illegal to recycle, re-use or illegally dump asbestos waste
  • It is illegal to dispose them in domestic rubbish bins
  • It is illegal to store, sell or give away asbestos

There are only two options for disposing of asbestos:

The contaminated materials must be double-wrapped in 0.2 millimetre thick plastic bags or sheeting, sealed with tape and labelled. They then have to be transported to landfill sites that accept asbestos waste.

Asbestos waste can also be placed in plastic-lined industrial skips.

The safest way to dispose of asbestos is to hire a licenced contractor such as the specialists at NO1 Asbestos Removals Brisbane. We can collect the hazardous waste from your location and, if required, wrap it appropriately before transit. As a registered waste transporter, we will carry the material to disposal sites approved by the Queensland Government. Typically, these are operated by local councils.

You can find a list of councils and their sites on the Queensland Government´s asbestos disposal information page.

Types of Asbestos Removal Licences

We hold the following asbestos removal licences in Queensland:

  • Class A Licence – covering the removal of any amount of friable asbestos. This is material containing asbestos in powder form or that can be easily pulverised or reduced to a powder when dry. It also covers more than ten square metres of non-friable (bonded asbestos).
  • Class B Licence – covering more than ten square metres of non-friable asbestos or contaminated dust associated with this amount of non-friable asbestos.

Our asbestos removal licences are issued by Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) and renewed every five years.
